Starting off the New Year on the right foot, Instyle Seating showcases the stunning Kiplings Garage Bar which opened late 2013 in Sydney’s leafy North Shore neighborhood of Turramurra (2 Eastern Road).
Situated on a fantastic corner position in Turramurra, Kiplings was inspired by an old automobile garage that had been operating on the site for many years. The owners used this history to inspire a lived-in atmosphere of rustic design elements blended with modern industrial accents.
To create warmth and vibrancy an exposed wooden floor has been combined with ambient lighting and a feature inlaid tile bar area. The furniture needed to re-inforce the casual feel of the concept whilst being modern and slightly industrial. The Saffi chair was the ideal choice for seating combined with silver/grey Tolix stools accented with a timber seat pad.
The Modena stool adds elegance at the bar and are custom powder-coated to match the bar.
Comfy sofas allow an easy cross over from casual day dining to wine bar at night.
An alfresco outdoor covered area required furniture that would cope with the elements whilst complimenting the ambience of the interior finishes. The Bora Chair from Nardi, Italy combined with Gentas resin table tops created the desired finish. As the tables needed to be packed away every night, the Aviva folding table base was the ideal solution – being lightweight, foldable and stackable.
The wine selection is stunning and beautifully featured in floor to ceiling shelving behind the bar. Timber clipboards hold a Tapas style share food menu and a handwritten chalk board touts seasonal offerings and wine specials – familiar touches that complete the look.
Kiplings Garage Bar has successfully created a casual neighbourhood wine bar whilst retaining the rustic historic narrative and is quickly becoming a popular venue for meeting and eating on the Upper North Shore.
